Vincentian Christian Intervention 2006
Vincentian Christian Intervention (VINCI 2006) is the second
anniversary of this event in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This
celebration takes place during the carnival season and which seeks to
develop spiritual awareness in the nation, bringing men and women into
a saving relationship with the Father. The theme of VINCI 2006 was
Christianize the Culture. The organizers believe that since God is the
God of culture, He does not intend for us to neglect the cultural
aspect of the nation. He expects us to be stewards of all His creation.
This year's events were filled with activities for children, youth, and
adults. It was a time of fun, food, and fellowship reflecting the
reality that one can have fun within a Christian context while
experiencing the awesome presence of Almighty God. Complementing this
event is a motorcade that traveled through strategic areas of the
country with sound systems proclaiming such Gospel songs as “Taking it
Back” and “Christianize the Culture” (written and performed by Anita
Charles). Hundreds of vehicles, colorfully decorated with balloons and
messages of the love of Christ, participated in the motorcade. The
evangelistic nature of this event of the motorcade allowed for many to
be blessed spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Participants this year included the St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Royal Police Band, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Mass Choir, and other
artists along with featured artist Anita Charles, a Vincentian who
resides in the USA. Anita believes that the world can be won through
evangelizing the schools. Consequently Anita and her husband Dennis
Charles met with the Minster of Education to discuss the possibility of
placing full color posters of the Ten Commandments in the schools. To
this end their request was granted and thus Anita and Dennis Charles
distributed copies of the Ten Commandments to every school throughout
St. Vincent and the Grenadines as well as business places, government
offices, and private homes. One of the highlights of these events was
Anita sharing the stage with children from different schools/churches,
who sang along with her song “Jewels for Jesus" from her latest album
“Christianize the Culture.” Anita firmly believes that we need to give
young people/children a voice. This was carried 'live' on radio and
recorded by a television station for later broadcast.
Anita and her husband, Dennis, also met with other Ministers of
Government including Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves; the
Minister of Tourism Hon. Rene Baptiste, and Minister of Education, Mrs.
Girlyn Miguel to discuss their desire for spiritual reformation in St.
Vincent and the Grenadines.
Anita’s visit to Mayreau (one of the Grenadine islands) was historic as
she is the first international artiste to visit the island.
